What stays on my device?
Completed Chat history, Study bookmarks, your last Study section, and appearance preferences can stay in this browser. Clearing browser data or changing devices may remove them. A Library search query may be sent to ChatSOP's service to return results. ChatSOP's application does not retain the search term under the currently verified implementation.
What does ChatSOP receive?
Questions you choose to ask are sent to the ChatSOP service so it can prepare a response. Bounded application events may include a random request identifier, time, result code, counts, and duration category. They exclude question text, answer text, quotations, secrets, and raw IP addresses. Hosting and network providers may separately process standard access information needed to operate and protect the service.
How does ChatSOP use an AI service?
Some questions and the approved study context needed to answer them may be sent from ChatSOP's server to its configured AI service for processing. ChatSOP also sends the local answer instructions needed for a controlled presentation. The provider's API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API organization opts into data sharing. ChatSOP's organization has not opted in. ChatSOP uses store:false on applicable provider requests; this is not Zero Data Retention. Unless a different verified retention setting applies, the provider may retain API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and may retain them longer where legally required or reasonably necessary for safety.
What information does ChatSOP limit?
ChatSOP limits the AI provider payload to the question, necessary approved study context, and local answer instructions. It does not intentionally add account, billing, Apple, installation, stable customer identifiers, or raw IP addresses to that payload.
Are conversations saved?
Completed conversations can be saved in your current browser. They do not synchronize across devices and there is no public recovery guarantee. ChatSOP does not copy them into a customer profile.
Do I need an account?
No public website account is required. The website does not create a billing profile, synchronize history, or connect an Apple subscription to a website profile.
Can I remove my information?
Yes. You can clear browser-local conversations, Study data, Library preferences, and display preferences from Settings. Because Version 1 has no public account and avoids stable identity in application events, ChatSOP may be unable to locate a specific service record without enough verifiable context.
How do I contact ChatSOP?
Email support@chatsop.org with a privacy, access, correction, or deletion question. Do not submit unnecessary sensitive or confidential information to ChatSOP, including passwords, authentication material, financial or health information, legally privileged communications, or other highly sensitive personal information.
Current service boundary
General Answer remains inactive. Ask ChatSOP may use OpenAI only to process the question, necessary approved study context, and local answer instructions under the privacy controls described here.
If General Answer is separately activated in a future governed release, its privacy details will be stated before that availability changes. Configuration presence alone does not mean a feature is active.
